The Link Between Positive Self Talk and Business Success

Positive self-talk is a huge part of achieving success in business. Let’s get into it…

Ever had days or even weeks where you’re just not feeling it and your self talk reflects this? It doesn’t matter whether you run your own business or work for someone else, we all know what it feels like to drag yourself into work and slog away just to get through the day.

It’s worse for entrepreneurs. When you’re your own boss, there’s no-one busting your balls to pick up your game. It’s all down to you. So you’ve GOT to be able to get your mindset right, and learn how to stay positive when things are getting you down.

Not feeling it?

Get your mind in the game

It starts with your mind. What stories is your self-talk telling you? If your inner monologue is constantly focussing on the negatives, on what’s going wrong, on how it’s probably your fault and that nothing will ever go right for you, guess what – getting into the right attitude to succeed is going to be nearly impossible.

I’ve said it a hundred times before, but motivation is a DISCIPLINE. It doesn’t always come naturally. You have to work at it.

But that’s never going to happen if what you’re telling yourself is “I’m shit, this is rubbish, I hate this”.

Your attitude is yours to control

Be honest with yourself – what sort of energy are you bringing to solving the problems you’re facing in your business right now? Do you feel like you’re pushing things uphill? If so, you need to take a long hard look at your attitude.

If you’re coming into each day expecting to fail, expecting things to go wrong, doubting yourself and getting pissed off when all your negative predictions come true – sort yourself out!

It takes a massive amount of self-belief to make it as an entrepreneur. If you’re not going to believe in yourself, how the hell do you expect anyone else to?! Positive self talk starts with belief in yourself.

Getting your head right starts with YOU!

Correct your self talk

If there’s no-one else around you to help solve your business problems, you’ve got to learn how to get yourself into the right mindset, and come to work with a strong and positive attitude.

Work out what works for you to motivate you when things aren’t going right (and this is not going to be the same for everyone), write yourself a list somewhere, then when the shit is hitting the fan – fucking do it!

It might be something as simple as watching a TED talk to get you fired up again. Or speaking with a mentor or coach you respect. If you don’t have one, finding videos online about your area, and getting yourself inspired again. It might even just be something as simple as going to the gym or running to clear your head.

Whatever it’s going to take you to sort your attitude out, you owe it to yourself and your business to take control of your situation.

Work out how you get motivated – then GET DOING IT!
