Hunter Biden Seeks Redemption With Beautiful Things
The sins of the father won’t be visted upon the father
By Ricky Browne
Hunter Biden, the 51-year-old son of US President Joe Biden, has published a memoir Beautiful Things about his chequered life, but the rationale behind it is not clear.
“I come from a family forged by tragedies and bound by a remarkable, unbreakable love,” writes Hunter Biden in his book. But now, all is good with the world, as his father is President, he is married to a new wife, and they have a little baby who is named after his dead brother.
Still, it’s a curious name for a book which exposes and confirms the depths to which Hunter’s life fell after his brother Beau’s death.
Whether the purpose of the book is to make some cash now, or whether it is to help protect his father in a later election bid by getting out all the bad news now when it will be less damaging, is unclear.
The book, which is rumoured to have earned Hunter US$2 million, becomes available in bookstores today, April 6.
Hunter is said to be in debt and his finances are under federal investigation.
BIG CHEESE
In the book, Hunter revealed that after his brother Beau’s death, he had been addicted to drugs for four years. At one point he had his dealer “an amazing woman, much older than me” live with him in his apartment. He also confessed on camera to smoking anything that remotely resembled crack cocaine. “I’ve probably smoked more Parmesan cheese than anyone you know” Biden said
He also said he had no recollection of meeting Lunden Roberts, a stripper who had a child for him. He challenged her in court in Arkansas over the claim that the child was his.
“I had no recollection of our encounter. That’s how little connection I had with anyone. I was a mess, but a mess I’ve taken responsibility for,” he says in Beautiful Things.
He could remember, though, the affair he had with his brother’s widow, which broke up his marriage.
BURISMA
In an interview with the BBC, Biden supported his connection to Burisma, a Ukrainian gas company, when he earned some US$50,000 a month as a director when his father was Vice President of the US, but admitted that it didn’t look great.
“I missed the perception that I would create,” he said on the BBC.
“I don’t think I made a mistake in taking a spot on that board. I think I made a mistake in terms of underestimating the way it would be used against me,” Biden said in an interview with CBS.
Biden’s confessions do make Trump’s children look relatively normal in comparison. And getting out all the crazy now may protect his father from further revelations further down the line – as long as he stays on the straight and narrow from now on.
BLURRY MEMORIES
As his addiction to drugs prevented Hunter from remembering his relationship with the mother of his child, it follows that he could also have little recollection of other things as well.
During the election campaign last year, the Republicans were hoping that the discovery of an old laptop said to be his would be a devastating blow to Joe Biden’s campaign.
The lap top contained photos of Hunter Biden taking drugs and may have helped to back up claims that Joe Biden was involved with the Ukrainian company Hunter worked for. But most news companies in the US said that it was fake news and wouldn’t give the story any coverage, scuppering Republican hopes of discrediting Joe Biden. The story was basically censored by Facebook, Twitter and many media houses. It got no traction.
Asked now on CBS now if the lap top was indeed his, Hunter said: “for real I don’t know.”
Now, whether it is his or not, is of little significance, as the election is over, and it will presumably be ancient history when the next election campaign starts in three years.
RUDY GIULIANI
But now that some details of his somewhat sordid life have now been further exposed. And some people are already jumping on it. One of them is Trump supporter and former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani.
“Hunter Biden’s book reveals many crimes ignored by the crooked media and FBI. For instance, if Hunter had a long-term addiction, then he lied on his application for a gun license. Any other individual would go to prison for that,” Giuliani tweeted on Twitter. The tweet got 11,800 likes after 15 hours and one thousand comments.
But many people don’t really care to hear much from Giuliani when it comes to not being an upright citizen.
“You got busted reaching into your pants in the reclining position in a Borat movie with the main character’s 15-year-old-daughter. Any other individual would go to prison for that,” tweeted Lesley Abravanel in reply to Giuliani. Many others had similar observations.
One person who was not revelling on the self-expose was former US President Donald Trump – who has had his Twitter platform removed from him by the social media platform.
THE SINS OF THE SON
Hunter Biden was a liability to Joe Biden’s run for the White House, but he won anyway. Its hard to see how in the future any child of a presidential hopeful could derail their parent’s attempt to get to the White House.
The sins of the son will not be passed onto the father.
The book sells for US$19.55 on Amazon, and is considered a number one best seller in the category “Lawyers and Judge Biographies”. It has 2.5 stars from its first two ratings – out of a possible five.
The first review by Serenity gave the book four stars and said: “Nothing but admiration for individuals who have the determination and courage to admit addiction problems and seek assistance. Addiction of any type is difficult to overcome so kudos to the author for completing rehabs and being sober for over a year.”
But the review also noted some problems with the book.
“There are also omissions that could have been written for a more complete memoir. Some of the items are:
“The purpose of the flights you took on AF 2 when your Dad was VP Biden., your laptop, what position you held as an Officer n the US Navy? The book states you were in the Reserves and received an Administrative Discharge So unusual for an officer to be discharged for drug usage. (In my 20 + years of USN service, I never heard of an Officer being discharged for drugs..)”
The second review by Buxx was much shorter and gave the book one star, and said: “I have nothing but disdain for an individual that would make copious excuses for aberrant behavior. The whole truth about the President’s son has never been disclosed by our media and continues to be covered up by law enforcement agencies. This book is a sham.”
Hunter Biden has only been clean of drugs for about a year. Even though his addiction and business dealings did not prevent Joe Biden from winning the last election, his father must be hoping that Hunter keeps his nose clean for at least three more years –assuming that he will have a second run at the Presidency at the age of 81.
