Firstly – Business. She’s very passionate and knowledgeable about beauty therapy and discussed the challenges of juggling that and her Geordie Shore commitments. Now she’s setting up her own brand covering clothing, beauty, shoes, hair extensions.” She explained that she’s going to expand on this through her YouTube channel, which will feature beauty tips, fashion advice and hair and make-up tutorials. I’m fully behind this – YouTube is such an important long-term arm of your business armoury! For growing and maintaining your audience, it’s completely essential.
Next – Money. We chatted about how to monetise life after Geordie Shore – something which could apply to anyone who’s appeared on TV. How do you turn reality TV into real earnings? Bethan’s key piece of advice was to hire a manager. They will maximise your earnings and get you into as many events as you can, increasing your profile and your network. This subject was key in my chat with Love Island contestant Sherif Lanre.
I still remember her telling me “I don’t want to sell things for the sake of it, I want to sell things I believe in.” This is something that really struck a chord. As I mentioned to Bethan, the monetising of an Instagram following is so short-term unless they have a passion, purpose and they’re selling a product they’re 100% behind and can get sustainable value from.
