Virgin Galactic and Rolls-Royce have partnered to create a supersonic commercial aeroplane that will fly even faster than the Concorde.
Virgin Galactic announced the partnership today for the plane, which will fly at Mach 3, or three times the speed of sound.
The Concorde flew at a mere Mach 2 in comparison.
George Whitesides, chief space officer at Virgin Galactic, said his company was excited to “unveil this initial design concept of a high-speed aircraft, which we envision as blending safe and reliable commercial travel with an unrivalled customer experience.”
