The past few months have been a very exciting time for me, from launching a successful charitable foundation to help children and their families across the UK, to supporting local food truck business KerbEdge, to funding the progression of brownfield development that looks to provide more housing in Birmingham.
Matt Haycox Foundation launch
The Matt Haycox Foundation launched at the Houses of Parliament in London, in June 2017. With celebrity attendees including singer/songwriter Simon Webbe and TOWIE star, Kate Wright, the event aimed to raise both funds and awareness. The Matt Haycox Foundation has pledged to donate a minimum of £100,000 a year to disadvantaged children and their families, as well as providing my personal support and time.
The foundation launched following my experience working with 9-year-old Alfie Smith, who has cerebral palsy. My part in providing £50,000 for Alfie’s life-changing operation, which will enable him to walk without pain and unassisted, inspired me to start a regular series of fundraising events to help more children and families.
The next big event is the Leeds Gala planned for March 2018, which will feature celebrity guests and an evening of great entertainment. Hosted at the Royal Armouries, the full event details will be released soon!
At the beginning of 2017, I saw the opportunity to invest in a local food truck business, called KerbEdge. The operator needed some help rolling out the business in terms of both funding and strategic advice. I have found it an absolute pleasure to work with a truly knowledgeable and motivated business partner on this venture, and my funding and support have seen the signing of 2 permanent location leases, to create restaurant premises to showcase our food offering. Hull is opening over the next few weeks and Sheffield will be open before Christmas. I hope to be sharing a burger with you in the not too distant future!

Birmingham brownfield renovation project
Located on the Hagley Road, I recently funded the purchase of two buildings that were sitting dilapidated within the popular Birmingham area, for just under £1 million. The land will be developed into over 20 apartments, mirroring other recent developments in the area and creating further housing availability in this ever-growing and increasingly popular area. It is also highly likely that I will provide the development finance once the full planning permission is in place and I have also been advising the developers on further projects across the UK.
If you have a property development project that you are looking for funding or advice on then I would love to hear from you.
I have a whole host of activities planned for the upcoming months which I will be telling you about in future updates, but would love to hear from anyone who has a project or business who needs help with obtaining finance or simply needs advice. Almost 20 years running and investing in businesses all across the UK have given me a wealth of ‘real world’ business experience, and my failures, as well as successes, mean that I probably have the answer to the problems you are suffering today!
I love passing on my experience and chatting to any business owners or directors looking to grow their venture as well as young entrepreneurs who need a ‘leg up’ in the business world!
